Andrew Prouny, married, was born on 9 September 1960 in Hochheim am Main, Germany, the son of a German father and a French mother. He studied art in Germany; later applied and fine arts in England. Prouny has been painting since the age of ten and works with various materials and styles. In the early years, his work was characterised by figurative painting; later he moved on to abstract painting. In oil painting, a demanding technique, he uses natural materials and colour pigments. Prouny works mainly on canvas and cardboard during this period. He makes use of a variety of visual and physical exchanges, which he creates by applying numerous layers of oil paint. Most of the time Prouny works on several paintings, as the drying time takes a lot of time. In this way, he has the opportunity to work on the numerous layers of oil again and again without interrupting the technique of creating the picture.
Andrew Prouny achieves individual results in this elaborate, technological process of oil painting, leaving behind "pure" colour pigments - without the addition of foreign substances, including oils and fillers. Later he changes and works exclusively abstract. Abstract painting eventually becomes his most important and dominant style in his works. He participates in various international group and solo exhibitions and has a large personal circle of connoisseurs and collectors of his works. Andrew Prony's paintings are in various prestigious private collections at museum level in Europe, Asia and North America. The artist currently lives in the South of France, where his studio is located. He lives isolated in his own world and does not get involved in political or social issues. Andrew Prouny's art is extremely positive and contemplative. He immerses the viewer in his colourful, three-dimensional world. A world he has created with his individual oil painting techniques and transformed into the creative life of eternity.
